Wednesday, March 21, 2012

Hello, dears! Welcome to the fourth stop on the Revenants Week Blog Tour, a week-long Revenant extravaganza in celebration of the amazingness that is Amy Plum and her Revenants series, which includes Die for Me (which I read and adored) and the upcoming Until I Die (which will be released on May 8th). If you haven't gotten the chance to read this series yet, get your hands on a copy of Die for Me and move it to the top of your to-do list right this moment! Go ahead. I'll wait here. *twiddles thumbs and whistles* Done? Great! Let's continue. This awesome event is hosted by the lovely bloggers at Revenants Central. Today I have for you the character profile of Georgia Frances Mercier, sister to the protagonist Kate. I am so happy to share it with you guys! Here's a little bit about the books before we jump into the profile:

Die for Me, Amy Plum
Series: Revenants #1
Format: Hardcover
Pages: 341
Date Published: May 10th 2011
Publisher: HarperTeen
Synopsis: Goodreads
In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity. When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent. Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.

Until I Die, Amy Plum
Series: Revenants #2
Format: Hardcover
Pages: 352
Date Published: May 8th 2012
Publisher: HarperTeen
Synopsis: Goodreads
Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love. As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy. In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.

Feature & Follow {4}

Thursday, March 15, 2012

The Feature & Follow hop is hosted by the lovely Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. It is a fun, interactive way to make new friends and gain followers. Please stop by and introduce yourself. I love meeting fellow book (and coffee) addicts! The question this week:

What is the best book you've read in the last month? What is the worst book you've read in the last month?

Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins is probably my favorite from the month of March so far! I honestly can't sing its praises enough. Forbidden romance, delicious bad boys looking for redemption, supernatural suspense, and a really awesome road-trip. It's kind of the best thing ever. (I have a guest post from the author and a signed ARC to giveaway, too, so keep an eye out for that this weekend!)
As for the worst? I don't know. I didn't enjoy Possess by Gretchen McNeil as much as I hoped I would. I had a copy on my TBR shelf for forever, and when I finally got around to reading it, it was slightly underwhelming. I still liked it, but it didn't WOW me. I did read a few self-published books that I didn't care for at all and were poorly written, but I really don't like to bring a lot of negative attention to any book. That's just not my style. I prefer talking about the ones I enjoy and recommend! Which reminds me, I just started reading Pandemonium and WOAH. Lauren Oliver is rocking my face off. I could barely tear myself away long enough to make this post, real talk.

So that's it for me! Thanks so much for stopping by the café. Leave me a comment if you're a new follower, and I will check out your blog. Feel free to like The YA Café on Facebook, too. Just make sure you leave a comment letting me know, so I can like your page back if you have one. Cheers!

Waiting On Wednesday {3}

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by the lovely Jill at Breaking the Spine. It spotlights upcoming releases that we're desperately wanting and just can't wait to get our hands on! This week I'm kind of cheating. I am actually offering up two books to swoon over, because I couldn't choose just one!

Glitch, Heather Anastasiu
Series: Glitch #1
Format: Paperback
Pages: 320
Expected Publication: August 7th 2012
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Synopsis: Goodreads
Own it: Pre-order it now on Amazon for just $9.99!
In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network. When Zoe starts to malfunction (or "glitch"), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers. As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse. In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.

Format: Hardcover
Pages: 300
Expected Publication: August 16th 2012
Publisher: Dial Books
Synopsis: Goodreads
Own it: Pre-order it now on Amazon for just $9.88 (original list price is $17.99)!
The trees swallowed her brother whole. And Jenny was there to see it. Years later, when she returns to the woods where Tom was taken to say good-bye at last, she finds herself lured into a world where stunning beauty masks the most treacherous of evils, and strange and dangerous creatures await—creatures who seem to consider her the threat. Among them is Jack, mercurial and magnetic, with allegiances that shift as much as his moods. Determined to find her brother, with or without Jack’s help, Jenny struggles to navigate a faerie world where nothing is what it seems, no one is who they say, and she’s faced with a choice between salvation or sacrifice—and not just her own. A darkly compelling mix of romance, fairy tale, and suspense from a new voice in teen fiction.

Not gonna lie, I'm totally fangirling, Jonah Hill style.
Glitch has been on my want list since this time last year, and I am so excited that the publication date is growing near! I am hopelessly addicted to the dystopian genre, what can I say? The "Community" sounds appropriately foreboding and intimidating, and I am always up for some newly developing supernatural abilities. As for The Treachery of Beautiful Things, words cannot describe how much I want this book. Everything from the cover and title to the synopsis has me completely won over. It sounds so haunting and lovely and dark, exactly the kind of book I enjoy most. I'm not sure if you know this about me, but faeries have always always always been my one true, paranormal love. I blame you, Holly Black, and your amazing amazingness! August 2012 for the win.

What books are you waiting for, my darlings? :)
